Fire at School (2016)

A photo book about Santa Monica High School made during and immediately after my assignment for The New York Times Magazine.

The book starts with a story told by the kid who filmed a snapchat of a fire in the boys’ bathroom, and photos I took during the evacuation.

The handwritten texts throughout the book are responses to an exhibition of the photos at Samohi’s Roberts’ Art Gallery, written to me by Ms. Bouse’s art students. She took them to my show and made everyone write down a few sentences of feedback.
