Blair's Books (2021)

A reliquary made for a collection of books left behind by a deceased family friend, Blair Renshaw [1960-2009]. Originally made in March 2020, right before the pandemic. I lived with the bookcase, full of Blair’s books, in my bedroom for a year in quarantine. During that time I catalogued every trace of Blair inside the pages of his books. In March 2021, I showed it at Punto Lairs Inc. along with a catalogue of Blair’s ephemera. The catalogue served as a sort of tour guide to all of the ephemera in the bookcase. I invited visitors to take a book with them, as a way of dispersing the books and Blair’s ephemera–like spreading ashes.
